Elevator/Lift: The Definition

Elevator or lift have become one of the most important parts of a building especially high rise building with more than 30 to 40 floors. Lower rise building above 5 floors also required to be equipped with lift or elevator system so that it is more convenient for the tenant to climb up the highest floor.

Elevator or lift by definition is the type of vertical transportation system that efficiently moves people, goods or anything between floor of buildings. The people, goods and the item shall not exceed the maximum contract load that the lift or elevator can carry.

Whether it is an apartment, condominium, office or even an observation tower will require a lift or elevator for the convenient of the people. There is no way you climb up the stairs every day for 8 floors just to get to your office at ninth floor.

From hydraulics lift to traction lift, the technology of lift and elevator is evolving from time to time. Years ago there is no skyscraper building. Now, the skyscraper building require more high end lift and escalator to ensure the smooth operation of the building and the tenant of the building.

The traffic management in  a building is a study how people in the building moves around the building. It is an essential part of the planning and design stage of  a building so that the traffic will flow smoothly. In the next post, I will write more about the component of a lift/elevator, the brands in the industry, how the vertical transportation system benefit us as the user.
